You control your time. No one else. Being busy isn’t a status symbo. It’s not a proxy of your seriousness. See if this is true for you – are you worthy if you aren’t busy? Are you successful if you’re not busy? You’re lazy if you’re not busy.
If those may be true for you let me know with a yes in the comments so we can chat more about it.
Think about your day. Do you have this belief that if you’re busy you’re successful, you’re not lazy, your needed and valuable? Are any of those true?
The truth is, when you’re busy and buzzing all the time there is no room for growth, there is no room to plan your growth, there is no room for you to breathe and give yourself what you need. There is no room for you to set yourself up for success. Of course, you don’t have time for self-care or to take care of yourself in a way that allows you to show up and be successful in your life, your business, your health.
You’re not alone. Our society has placed this stigma on you, even me, that you are more worthwhile the busier you are.
If your mind is stuck on you being busy, no matter all the tips I give you, you will not make the time for self-care or to just be. If this is blocking you I encourage you to acknowledge it so you can start to get yourself unstuck. You have to be willing to identify this belief before you try the practical tips.
My Top 3 Tips For Fitting You-time Into Your Busy Schedule.
I have a problem with people saying they don’t have time to work with me. Or to show up for themselves right now. It truly bothers me at my core. I have been undervaluing how much I have been showing up like a badass over the last year…. Here’s some of what I’ve been able to do because I believed in myself and trusted that I’d show up and own my life.
Operated our ice cream business while pregnant, working full time, and running my coaching business.
Being freaking pregnant
Working full-time as an RN on night shift
Putting most of my “spare” time into my coaching business and clients
Giving birth to my son (now 11 months old)
Training for a half marathon!
Being a loving, patient mom
Being a loving wife
Eating in a way that allows me to be energized and feel good
If I can do all that, I know you have what it takes to show up for yourself NOW. The reason you haven’t been is because you know what to expect if you keep doing the same old thing day after day after day. You know what to expect when you keep shoving yourself to the back burner and telling yourself you’ll get to it tomorrow because you don’t have the time now.
The time will never appear. YOu have to make the time or you will let your life consume you.
Yes, it’s going to feel hard at first. It only feels that way because you’re stepping out of your comfort zone. Your comfort zone can be a place of misery and pain. Even though that place is painful it’s more comfortable than stepping out of your comfort zone and trying something new. It’s more comfortable than possibly feeling disappointed in yourself.
Here are My Top 3 Tips For Fitting You-time Into Your Busy Schedule.
1. Prioritize yourself
2. Be honest about what you’ve overcommitted to
3. Schedule dates with yourself
When you schedule self-care time, time with your kids, time reading a book whatever when you schedule it is more likely to happen. AND whatever you’re doing will expand/contract to the amount of time you allow for you.
If you have a whole day to work out, it will take you all day. whereas if you only have 10 minutes you’ll do it within that 10 minutes. If you say you have all day to care for yourself you will put yourself last on your to-do list.
Taking care of yourself does not mean you are lazy. It means you respect yourself.
You have to work on this from both angels – working through and identifying your beliefs and being strategic with your time/planning.
I know how to help you manage your time. Kids, work, significant others, summer, business, all the things – they all take up a lot of your time, but you don’t have to let them consume you. You also don’t have to do this alone. Let’s connect and talk about how you can make the most of your time while taking care of yourself first.
