Given the current state of this world, Brides to Be are looking to planners to help guide them now more than ever. There are so many unique alternatives to spending thousands of dollars on weddings these days, and it starts with one of the most important pieces…. THE WEDDING DRESS!
With the new wedding trend of micro weddings soaring now into 2021 I have made it one of my missions to help guide those who are asking towards “gently-worn” wedding attire. This is a sustainable way to reuse and recycle something that literally only gets worn once for a few hours.
Smaller celebrations in unique spaces are calling for alternative attire. I suggest a few keys places to my clients that are open to this option; of course, it is not for everyone.
First up is Rent the Runway where they offer a Celebrations section. You can find attire and accessories for the Bride, Mother of the Bride, and Bridal Party for all wedding functions. You have the option to purchase items as well as rent and return.
Secondly, Tradesy is another online option offering wedding dresses, veils, shoes, and jewelry options for sale at lower price points. I am slightly obsessed with the shoe section where you can find fabulous pricing for very high-end brands.
Do not rule out your family heirlooms, seamstresses are sewing angels that can take vintage dresses and create beautiful gowns reusing the material cuts.
And, for those who do not feel the above options is for them and wish to perhaps custom create a dress, I highly suggest Anomalie. You can effortlessly customize your own wedding dress online with the help of their amazing stylists. They work with you online to answer questions, you can even invite family and friends to join in on the zoom call. Love always wins, this experience will ensure those you love can still share in this experience with you.
Lastly my advice to all my Brides is still to choose a 2nd shorter dress option that you change into after the ceremony or purchase one that allows you to easily remove the train. I have spent so much time pinning up failed bustles and wiping tears of my Brides who have had their dream dress torn during their first dance.
Cheers to Happy Planning,
