If you are like most of us out there, 2020 has not been friendly with sales. So how are you preparing for Black Friday this year? I have some ideas that could help you shape your content for the upcoming mega sales event. With businesses vying for customers’ attention, the competition is going to be intense. Hence your content should hit the mark and stand out from that of your competitors.

Provide a sneak peek
Black Friday sale events are on the radar of every retailer and buyer in the USA. So don’t delay-start promoting your sale well in advance. Create a short preview that gives your customers a quick peek into the kind of deals and offers they would enjoy on Black Friday. You can share short videos or visuals to convey the same.

Create a gift guide
Black Friday is a great time to invest in good content as the spending spree lasts till the New Year. Gift guides are evergreen content pieces with utility extending much beyond the Black Friday event.

Create guides like ’15 gifts ideas for father’, ’13 trending gift fitness enthusiasts’, ’19 heart touching gifts for the musical soul’, etc. Research when before you actually create the guide; make sure to go beyond what’s already there on the internet. Come up with new gift ideas that other companies haven’t listed. Another tip is to avoid using numbers like 5 or 10 in the title. That’s what everyone else is doing, so use unique numbers like 7, 13, or 19 to make the heading look different than other links in the search engine results.

Leverage Email Marketing
All marketers know how powerful tool email marketing is. So why leave it be behind while promoting your Black Friday sale! Dive straight into the inboxes of your existing customers and tell me about the attractive deals and offers they could lead their hands-on.
Consider creating different coupon codes or give early access to the deals for the members of your mailing list. Personalize the mail by including receivers’ names, and also remember to include the holiday greetings.

Create a Facebook event
Since you plan to run a Grand sale, why not create an event on Facebook? Of course, you will share the promotional content on all your social media handles, but you can take a step ahead and create an online event. Your social media team can add the initial few people to the event, and those folks could invite their friends. The benefit of creating a social media event is the reminders it gives to the users regarding the date and the time. Also, when Facebook users see their circle responding to a Facebook event, they are more likely to join in.

Reflect the new normal in your content
The coronavirus has changed lives around the globe, and we are spending more time indoors. Your content should highlight products and services that are useful to people during social isolation. Home decor items, books, and journals, musical instruments, work from home utility items, home fitness equipment, etc. should feature prominently on your landing page, and you must gear your content to promote them.
Since the pandemic has hurt many lives, be subtle in your approach, and don’t come across as a crony capitalist. Also, be mindful of the ongoing societal issues; don’t unintentionally include anything in your content that discriminates against individuals of any specific race, gender, sexual orientation, or ethnicity.

Maintain synergy
It goes without saying that you have to promote your Black Friday sale across multiple channels like your Facebook page, YouTube channel, your website, etc. Ensure that there is consistency in the content posted on different platforms. You can easily achieve this if your content team works in proper coordination.

As we are in the midst of a global pandemic, we are not likely to see the long queue of shoppers waiting since early morning for the stores to open. But they will definitely be watching online stores to grab the best deals and offers. So leave no stone unturned, and stay on the top of your content game to make the most of the upcoming mega sales event.
