HEY THERE, NEW ENTREPRENEUR!
How are you adjusting to the business owner life?
I remember so clearly how it felt those first few months. It is such an exciting, exhilarating, exhausting, and almost mind-blowing time! Half the time you’re diving into your zone, getting things done, and making incredible progress, mixed in with those moments of: “OMG what did I get myself into?!” “I don’t know what I’m doing!!”, and the joyous: “I can’t believe this is real life!”

It can feel like a bit of a roller coaster at first, but a very rewarding one! From chatting with you guys in my group program, I wanted to impart a few reminders for my new online business owners, that I think you probably need to hear right about now!

ONE OF THE HARDEST THINGS TO DO IS TO DECIDE TO START, AND YOU’VE ALREADY DONE IT
Tying into my first point, just remember that you are reading this because you made the scary AF decision to try. You built up the confidence and skills, maybe invested in a coaching program, busted your butt day and night, and bravely put your business out there for the world to experience and enjoy.

Like I said before, so many people don’t even make it to this point, but here you are. You showing up here to read this lets me know that you are capable of amazing things. Don’t forget that!

YOU ARE ALLOWED TO PIVOT
You started with an idea, then you dove into your target market, then into your offers, and branding, and all of a sudden… Hmm. Something around here feels a little off. You want to pivot your offer, ideal client, etc., but you’ve already spent so much time coming up with this first draft, that changing things feels like a death sentence.

Let me be super clear, YOU ARE ALLOWED TO PIVOT. There’s a reason no author publishes the first, unedited draft of their book. Sometimes, you have to get back in there and tweak a few things, for the betterment of the whole project. Being able to adjust and adapt your business to better fulfill your overall mission is going to be a key tool in your long term success!

THERE IS NO “ONE WAY” TO DO IT
Everyone’s path to success is different. Each and every one of us has a unique way that we see the world, therefore, how you build, scale, and thrive in your online biz will be different than that person who claims to have the one secret magic sauce.

Throw out the cookie cutter. That’s exactly why I’ve built one-on-one support into my group program for building an online business. You are coming to the table with a unique set of skills, strengths, weaknesses, etc. and it is so important to incorporate what is uniquely YOU into building your business.

OTHER PEOPLE’S OPINIONS ARE FOR RECOMMENDING STREET TACOS, NOT FOR YOUR BUSINESS
We alllll know someone who just loves to throw out their unsolicited opinion like a basket full of rose petals. As a new business owner, you will likely encounter an endless stream of opinions from family, friends, random people on Instagram, or that girl who always posts in that Facebook group you like, about how you should be running your business.

Like any opinion that is not a street taco recommendation, always take it with a grain of salt. If something someone says doesn’t sit right with you, don’t give it the power to control you or your business. At the end of the day, the only opinion that matters is yours. You know what’s best for your biz and your clients.

YOU’LL LEARN MORE BY DOING
I know how tempting it is to buy another SEO course, or tweak your website design 1,000 times, or pour over your packages every night until 2:00 am. But believe me when I say, you will learn the most about what works simply by doing it. You’ll master discovery calls by doing them. You’ll know what your clients want by offering them your packages and adjusting when necessary. You’ll figure out the best process for designing websites or writing copy by actually doing it!

So the next time you’re obsessing over something, wondering if it will work or not, take that one scary step and just try it!

1% BETTER IS STILL BETTER
I like to tell my clients to strive to be 1% better each day. When you’re just starting your online business, it can feel like there are hundreds of things to do, and a checklist that never ends. Lots of new entrepreneurs feel the pressure to get everything done in a week and have $10k launches their first month in business. If you can manage to move your business forward by just 1% each day, that is an accomplishment worth celebrating!

Now that we’ve said what was needed to be said, take a deeeep breath for me. You’re doing a great job.

You feeling better about things now? GOOD! This journey isn’t the easiest, but I can easily say that it is one of the best experiences of my life! You are capable of so much, and I am so excited to see where this path may lead you.
