Passion is seen by many as the element to achieve success. When passion sets in, one experiences an intense desire for something or someone. Within this context, the focus is on the desire to achieve a particular goal. Professionals indicate during job interviews that they are passionate about everything. Isn’t this a bit grandiose?

The professional intends to show an employer that he is willing to invest a lot in time and actions to achieve success. While this is a good and noble pursuit, other components allow passion to make its function effectively. Let’s illustrate this with an athlete. Passion is an emotional response to, for example, achieving a goal. Athletes have a passion for practicing their sport. We, as the spectators, find their behavior only obsessive. We also shy away from the “arrogant” talking athletes often use. We cannot imagine anyone taking any far-reaching steps to achieve goals. In the eyes of the athlete, this is normal behavior.

When an athlete is interviewed about routines and the sacrifices they make to reach their goals, they set out to say that the practice of their sport is driven on some level by passion, but this is not the only thing they do.
In practice, an athlete can influence his thinking and acting in such a way that there is nothing but a passion for being the best in his sport. Also, we notice that they have the following characteristics:

– They hire a coach. This coach can use their talent in such a way that it will have the same effect every time, most needed. Note that there is talent involved that has to be molded.

– They ensure that everything that is a distraction to the achievement of the goal is banished from their lives. It may also mean that people they love no longer have the opportunity to distract them.

– They are willing to banish all negative thoughts from their brains as if it were a disease. They are eager to listen to those who have followed the same path with successful results.

– They are willing to train for hours and make small changes that are indicated by their coach.

– They see themselves in the only position possible for them: success.
You see, your passion in itself can act as a motivational elixir that incites people to great deeds. Passion is part of the cocktail of other elements that ensure that someone with a passion for a goal can continue to work so that the target can be realized. We have bought into the myth that if we are passionate or positive and believe that the thing we are after, is enough.
These thoughts have caused the fire of passion extinguishing quickly because the desired result is not achieved. Discouraged by the lack of results, one becomes passive and no longer uses passion as a driver. What a waste! Bring out the athlete in you and take on your goals while taking the necessary steps to build on them with certainty.
