2020 changed the game for business owners.
And while the majority my clients’ businesses, as well as my own business grew substantially (because we focus on Marketing to Millionaire clients), the way in which we approach marketing has definitely shifted.
As a strategist, I always have my finger on the pulse of the market and the way prospective clients are researching and buying premium services. What worked 3 months ago, is no longer effective. And it’s changing as frequently as Facebook changes it algorithm.
That is why, I literally burned my 2021 marketing plan and re-wrote it. Here are some of the major changes I’m making.
1. SIMPLIFY, STREAMLINE, ELEVATE, and FOCUS: These are the keywords that permeate our company culture within my organizations. From operations to KPIs (key performance indicators) to product and service offerings to branding to marketing to…. EVERYTHING. Q4 of 2020 and Q1 of 2021 are dedicated to this mission and you will see it in every strategic shift we’ve made within the company.
2. Elevating our Target Market and Programs (even for our group consulting programs): I follow my own advice. I have a very successful boutique branding agency and consulting services firm that targets affluent clientele. And, I simply do not have the bandwidth to serve everyone in our communities privately. Plus, I’m on a MISSION to help serious entrepreneurs get out of the mass marketing “coaches coaching coaches” game that is killing their business growth.
With that said, we’ve raised the bar on who we are targeting even for our group consulting programs and digital courses to elevate out of the red ocean craziness of mass marketing land. We’ve completed a few programs that we were running, and I’ve launched a new initiative for EPIC Women Leaders who are disrupting their markets.
3. Re-Branding: I’ve always had very clear positioning in the market place – this is the #1 reason I’ve been so successful. Simply speaking we are the masters at helping entrepreneurs and organizations:
a. Acquire Premium Clients by Marketing to Millionaires™
b. Master Your Message Through Strategic Brand Positioning
c. Scale Your Organization Strategically Using The Profit-ology Process™
d. Building An Epic Thought Leader Platform To Disrupt Your Market
And as the owner of a brand agency, I always need to be 5 steps ahead of the curve. (You know what I say: “The Cobblers Children Must Wear Prada”) That is why I’m elevating my personal brand AND I’m relaunching the Profit-ology Digital Campus. I’ll do an entirely separate blog post on that.
4. Moving from Email to Mobile Marketing: “I can’t wait to get 8 million emails in the morning that I’m never going to read” – said NO ONE EVER. In fact, in ALL our marketing across the board we are (you guessed it) streamlining, simplifying, elevating and focusing.
The market is totally overwhelmed. That means we are sending WAY less email and the email we are sending is going to be very succinct. We cleaned our list and we are sending a survey to get them customized content that actually matters to them. Plus, we now do an executive summary each Monday that has ALL our marketing in one place, instead of sending out 5 different emails.
And we send quick texts to keep people informed of the information they truly want. (In fact, if you want to get into my text community and chat with me directly (yes, it’s really me … Text Me 702-447-0328)
5. Embracing Intimacy in Our Community: Generally, in mass marketing approach, people are looking to reach as many people as possible in one shot.
We are taking a totally opposite approach. We are looking to create more direct connection and direct two-way conversations with our community. That is why we doing things like: creating a text community (see above) holding private closed door virtual events, focusing on our Marketing to Millionaires Success Circle, and creating direct connections with everybody in there through our Profit Concierge program as well as revising the format for our Profit Intensives, and focusing on speaking opportunities that allow me to actually speak to humans like Clubhouse (follow me @kellyoneil).
In additional to these core changes, I’ve also made a lot of operational changes behind the scenes at my company, hired new key team members, revamped our internal KPI’s and am undergoing a major process and systems overhaul.
At the end of the day, everything goes back to our core 2021 Motto: “SIMPLIFY, STREAMLINE, ELEVATE, and FOCUS”
